It’s early, but that’s the best time to draft in overall contests, when you can assemble odd teams to which no one has access when the ADP congeals in July and August. Yes, you can get rugged by preseason injuries, but don’t be a nutless monkey — you can get rugged in Week 1 or Week 3, just the same!
I haven’t done much prep other than looking at the first round and cursorily at the next five, but it’s football which doesn’t exactly entail splitting the atom. Actually, the truth about football is it’s so complex (much more so than baseball which is mostly a series of one-on-one matchups between pitcher and hitter), that diving deeply into the data confers only a marginal advantage (if any) over the guy who uses an ADP-based cross-off list and drafts from the gut.
The draft is taking place this coming Saturday, June 17 at 2 PM ET. If you’re interested, you can sign up here: The grand prize is $250K, but realistically you have no chance of winning it with me in the contest, but second place in this league is $700!
I’ll probably live-stream it too, something that should be doable for football. I made the mistake of trying to livestream my first MLB draft this winter, and that was a disaster.
Damn... That filled up fast. More to come?
