Beat Chris Liss 1 (Results and Livestream)
The first Beat Chris Liss is in the books. You can watch the livestream with Greg Ambrosius here.
I drew the second pick. Here are the results:
.2 Bijan Robinson — Robinson was my target here. A young, durable player in his prime that does it all in what should be a better offense. I love Jahmyr Gibbs for the same reason, but Gibbs has more competition for touches and more upheaval on his team this offseason.
.11 Garrett Wilson — Had Wilson been taken I would have gone Tyreek Hill as a home run pick. Wilson has been good every year with bad QB play, and he’s already played with Justin Fields in college.
.11 Breece Hall — Stacking Jets was not my plan, but Hall was the 1.3 last year, he’s healthy now, and the team can’t be any more dysfunctional than last year’s.
.2 DJ Moore — A better offensive braintrust, no Keenan Allen, Caleb Williams in Year 2 give Moore, who’s in his late prime, a 90-catch healthy floor.
.11 Rome Odunze — I wanted Calvin Ridley or Odunze here, and Ridley was gone. Odunze was a top-10 pick last year who’s an obvious breakout candidate in Year 2, especially with no Allen around.
.2 RJ Harvey — I don’t know much about him except that he’s compact, fast, catches passes and should see work right away in a Sean Payton offense.
.11 Jayden Reed — He’s the Packers’ best receiver, but for some reason they stopped throwing to him last year. I’d expect that to change this year, even though they spent a first-round pick on Matthew Golden.
.2 Cooper Kupp — He might be done, but he was one of the most skilled route runners in the league, and he’s healthy now.
.11 Bo Nix — I was thrilled to land him here, a Sean Payton QB with running ability, likely to take a leap in Year 2 with new weapons. He’s also paired with Harvey who can catch passes.
.2 Trey Benson — This was an error. I was chatting with Ambrosius who I blame for this, and pleased with myself for landing Nix, so I didn’t set a queue. The obvious picks were Caleb Williams (for my Moore/Odunze stack) or Justin Fields (for my Wilson/Hall one), but I had my QB and wasn’t looking at the position as the clock was winding down. I do like Benson, and I’m fading an aging, injury-prone James Conner, but for this team that had good RB depth, I should have gone with the stack.
.11 Dalton Kincaid — My two stack QBs were predictably gone, but I needed a TE, and Kincaid is a good prospect in Year 3 on a thin Bills receiving corps.
.2 Jonnu Smith — He was a monster down the stretch last year with the Dolphins, and the Steelers are thin on pass catching after DK Metcalf. I could see Aaron Rodgers targeting him near the goal line too.
.11 Drake Maye — I like his upside in Year 2 with Stefon Diggs in the fold, and I needed a second QB.
.2 Hollywood Brown — He slipped a bit, and I think he’ll be involved if he stays healthy in Kansas City.
.11 Jordan Love — Greg joked about taking Love with my second pick, and I don’t believe in coincidences entirely. I also have Reed for the stack, and Love has upside if the Packers find themselves throwing more.
.2 Michael Wilson — I was talking with Alan Seslowsky about how Marvin Harrison didn’t get much separation last year, and while Wilson is a distant third behind Harrison and Trey McBride, he is the clear No. 3 target for now.
.11 49ers Defense — They play the Sam Darnold Seahawks in Week 1, thinking there could be some sacks and picks.
.2 Chargers Kicker — He was very good last year, kicks in good weather, and I needed a kicker.
.11 Zack Moss — Pretty sure he’s still Chase Brown’s backup.
.2 Eric Ayomanor — The Titans don’t have much quality depth behind Calvin Ridley, and Cam Ward might be good out of the gate.
