Beat Chris Liss 3 took place today at 10 am ET. I had the ninth pick (my first choice). I also live-streamed it with the help of Alan Seslowsky (Team 3) and briefly Gino Barasa (Team 2.)
Here’s the livestream, wherein we discuss a good chunk of the player pool:
And league results:
(Ignore Team 1 who was apparently on auto-pick for four rounds.)
.9 Saquon Barkley — the reason I wanted pick nine. I figured he’d be there, and I’d still get the fourth picks in Rounds 2 and 3 (in third-round reversal.) I’ve detailed in Beat Chris Liss 1 and elsewhere why I like Barkley this year.
.4 Javonte Williams — I liked Williams earlier in draft season (The Snarky 150 had him at 12 overall), but hadn’t yet had a chance to take him with Dalvin Cook and Barkley being available to me in Beat Chris Liss 2. He’s a Year 2 RB without health issues that proved himself as a rookie and now has a vastly upgraded offense with Russell Wilson. I also heard ESPN’s Mike Clay describe him on a podcast as possibly this year’s version Jonathan Taylor, and it resonated with me. Always take the talented young back with low mileage before his full breakout.
.4 Kyle Pitts — I wanted either him, AJ Brown or Travis Etienne (who I’d taken in all four of my other leagues.) Brown went two picks ahead of me, so it was Pitts or Etienne. I hate diversification, but I wanted a share of Pitts, so I took it. The physical talent is off the charts, he already eclipsed 1,000 yards as a rookie and he should see as many targets as anyone at the position.
.9 DK Metcalf — He was bothered by a foot injury all year which necessitated surgery, dealt with poor QB play from Russell Wilson and Geno Smith and still scored 12 times. A healthy Metcalf is unstoppable, no matter who’s under center.
.4 Elijah Moore — I have Moore in nearly every league. I considered Juju Smith-Schuster, but he went three picks ahead of me, and I might have taken Michael Thomas but for his recent hamstring injury.
.9 Christian Kirk — Kirk is the clear No. 1 target on a team without an established tight end. If Trevor Lawrence is even decent in a real system, Kirk should go 80-1,000 in his sleep.
.4 Joe Burrow — I was choosing between him, Darren Waller and DeAndre Hopkins, without realizing Hopkins was gone five picks earlier. I opted for Burrow who seems recovered from his apendectomy.
.9 Skyy Moore — It’s unclear as yet who will get the Patrick Mahomes’ targets, but it could easily be Moore, who the Chiefs took with the 54th overall pick.
.4 James Cook — I took him narrowly over Cordarrelle Patterson, and maybe it was a mistake. Cook should be the Bills’ third-down back, but at 5-11, 190, he makes Christian McCaffrey look like Derrick Henry.
.9 Kenneth Walker — The 41st overall pick is recovering from hernia surgery, but when he comes back he should have a role right away, and Rashaad Penny isn’t durable enough to carry the load even if he were miraculously to stay healthy.
.4 Brian Robinson — I hate the Football Team, but Robinson might be their starting running back, so I took him. (My fourth rookie in a row.)
.9 Joshua Palmer — He’s concussed, but I like Year 2 receivers to make the leap, Keenan Allen is getting long in the tooth and Mike Williams has had trouble staying healthy.
.4 Robby Anderson — I expect Baker Mayfield to be credible in Carolina, and someone other than D.J. Moore and McCaffrey has to catch passes.
.9 Alec Pierce — Another rookie, but I’d expect him to see targets right away, even in the unlikely event Parris Campbell stays healthy.
.4 David Njoku — Apparently Jacoby Brissett only targets tight ends, and Njoku could be the main beneficiary.
.9 49ers Defense — They draw the Bears in Week 1, and the division is now weaker without Russell Wilson.
.4 Sony Michel — Some people like Chase Edmonds, but I don’t see why Michel couldn’t win a job as the early-down back.
.9 Daniel Jones — This pick speaks for itself.
.4 Eagles Kicker — Who knows? I got sniped on the Rams kicker who I have elsewhere.
.9 Devin Duvernay — He always seems to make plays when I watch the Ravens, and what if Bateman gets hurt?

Your reactions to team 1 at the 3/4 turn are hilarious, but I think the picks themselves are even funnier. Real man drafts nothing but QBs.
