Last week I went 3-2 which doesn’t matter because I’m drawing dead in the overall and for Q2. Q3 starts in Week 10, so this week doesn’t matter either, except to establish a baseline of connectedness with the flow of the league. In other words, I am still trying, and even though last week I jokingly considered pivoting toward the booby prize, I discovered I’m nowhere close — those dudes are 9-31 through Week 8!
I made my picks for Week 9 last night because I wanted to use the Ravens, and they covered fairly easily. Apologies for not posting in advance, but I very much doubt anyone is using my picks as a guide at this point.
Giants +2.5 vs 49ers
The Giants got screwed by the refs last week, they’re annoyed about the injuries, their awful play calls on defense. I expect them to play angry and get after a vulnerable 49ers team whose record is better than it should be.
Chargers -8.5 at Titans
The Chargers went through a rough patch but now seem to be hitting their stride again. The Titans’ only win was so lucky — they’re probably worse even than the Jets and Saints. I expect the Chargers to roll.
Chiefs -2.5 at Bills
The Bills aren’t often home dogs, but the Chiefs are better on both sides of the ball. Josh Allen is great, but Patrick Mahomes is just as good and has more help.
Redskins +3 vs Seahawks
With Jayden Daniels back I’ll take the home dog here. I know Sam Darnold has been great, but this game is a toss-up in Washington, and I’m getting three.
