Circa Millions
And Christmas Day Observations
I’m not gonna lie. I watched maybe five minutes of football yesterday. Josh Johnson against the eliminated-from-contention Cowboys, Chris Oladokun against the Broncos and Max Brosmer against a mediocre Lions team? No thanks. I have Chinese food to eat (went to a different place for lunch and dinner), watched some NBA at Heather’s aunt’s house where we went to meet her cousin’s three-month old baby. I really like picking up babies, and this one gave me a few smiles and goofy looks, but cried when Heather picked her up. Babies sense good vibes.
I went 2-3 last week in Circa, am drawing dead for everything, really just playing out the string. This is kind of like if you lost your limbs in a car accident, were in a month-long coma had terminal cancer and were on a life-support machine. Nothing left in the deck is really gonna move the needle for you.
That said, I’m still gonna send in the picks. It’s one last opportunity to test myself against the universe, and in the end, that’s the nature of human existence — you assess the environment and respond to it.
Here are the picks:
Texans +1.5 at Chargers
I’ll buy low on the Texans after an unimpressive win last week against the Raiders and sell high on the Chargers. The Texans still have the best defense in the NFL.
Packers -3 vs Ravens
Lamar Jackson isn’t playing, and the Ravens just aren’t good this year. Jordan Love might play, Malik Willis might play and either would probably be good enough. If neither plays this line might be right, but it feels like this number prices in both being out which isn’t necessarily the case.
Cardinals +7.5 at Bengals
The Cardinals are bad but should be able to shoot it out against a bad Bengals defense, at least enough to keep it close.
Browns +3 vs Steelers
The Steelers are playing better of late, but seemed like a sell high here on the road against a division rival. This one is ugly, but felt right.
Jaguars -6.5 at Colts
Philip Rivers played great last week against the 49ers, but I’ll fade the fat 45-YO on a short week against a good defense.
