I went 2-3 against last week to bring my season record to 4-11. To say I’m drawing dead in the season-long is an understatement — I’d have to win the next 15 games (about 1 in 32,000) just to get to where I’d need to be. So Week 4 means nothing, and Week 5 (where the next quarterly prize starts) is what matters.
That said, I need to put up a 4-1 or 5-0 week just to get back on track, show that I’m back in sync with the rhythms of the league. To that end, here are my picks:
The Bucs are 3-0, but it was all on last minute drives, even against the Jets. The Eagles are one of the league’s powerhouses, and I think they’ll win this one fairly easily.
The Pats are laying too much wood for them against a team that just won 30-0, but that’s why I like it. The Panthers are still bad, and their offense didn’t play well even in that Falcons game. Good spot to lay the wood.
I hate the Falcons now, but they’re a good buy-low at home facing Marcus Mariota who’s coming off maybe the best game of his career.
The Texans are unwatchable and annoying, but their defense is good, and I think this is a get well game for them against a doormat.
The Packers lost on a blocked kick, but they are still the elite team that thumped the Lions. The Cowboys defense might be the 32nd best in the league, and with no CeeDee Lamb, I expect the offense to struggle too. Micah Parsons might get five sacks.
