Greatness
I saw some hype about Caitlin Clark a few weeks ago, so I watched some clips. It seemed like she was operating on a higher level than the rest of the players, the way she saw the court, her range, her vision and sense of the game. People mention Steph Curry, and I can see it, but my first thought was Larry Bird. I even showed the clips to my 11-year-old daughter who plays in a basketball league here and is getting more into it.
. . .
I don’t pay attention to women’s basketball at all, let alone women’s college basketball (I’ve barely paid attention to men’s college basketball the last 10 years), but suddenly I (and many others) were interested in whether Iowa could win the title and the numbers Clark was putting up. Why? Because greatness is the only thing that moves the needle. The rest is noise.
