I had a miserable Week 5 — I went 1-4, to bring my season record to 18-17 — and honestly, I was lucky to get the one, as the Team was knocking on the door in Tennessee when Carson Wentz threw the game-sealing pick.

I think I got a bit too magical-thinking, taking the Panthers because it was so ugly, and the Rams because I heard everyone liking the Cowboys and felt it might be time to sell the top. My numbers from last week should have put me on the Cowboys and the Niners if I were interested in those games, which initially I was not. I also backed off the Jets after liking them initially because my other big lean, the Broncos fell apart on Thursday night. That was also dumb because of course some of my leans are going to be totally wrong — that’s not a reason to scrap all of them.

Bottom line, for God knows what reason I had some resistance last week to just picking, being wrong and dealing with it. I felt uncertain, wanted to avoid it and made up some dumb reasons to take teams I shouldn’t have. Going forward, both with the picks and my fantasy start/sit decisions, I’m going to just pick what strikes me and let the chips fall. I don’t know why it took a couple annoying weeks to get here, but I’m done with agonizing over this bullshit.
