I went 3-2 last week to put me at 21-19, still essentially drawing dead in the overall contest. But while it would be nice to win a million dollars for my efforts, the reason I got into picking games in the first place was to test my hypotheses against reality. And no matter what your record, you’re always able to do that. In fact, when you consider the disastrous state of affairs in the world over the last two years, perhaps “testing one’s hypotheses against reality” was the element most lacking in our health policy response. Put differently, trying to handicap a complex system and noting where you fall short is not necessarily an idle exercise.
