Nothing could top last week’s Monday night games wherein I lucked into an NFFC playoff berth I didn’t deserve, but this wasn’t bad.
I had switched my pick from the Eagles to the Seahawks on Sunday when I heard Jalen Hurts was questionable with an illness, and once I saw he was playing, I had a pit in my stomach over it. But somehow Drew Lock put together a miracle last-minute drive with some perfect downfield throws to DK Metcalf and Jaxon Smith-Njigba, the latter of whom I had going in the Steak League too.
I also had Kenneth Walker, who ran for a long TD and put up 20 points, but Devonta Smith only got me 10. All in all, it was a 90th percentile outcome, and I’ll take that every time. My Primetime team (133.9 points) is now pretty much drawing dead, but as I said yesterday, the one thing I learned is you never know. A 200-plus Week 16, and all of a sudden, a cash is back in play, and it can happen. I secretly expect it to even.
I only watched the six-minute highlights, so I’m not going to get into the details of this game so much. Kenneth Walker always passes the eye test for me — no one is quicker or more elusive, and it’s clear he’s the No. 1 with Zach Charbonnet as his change-of-pace/backup.
Hurts has 14 rushing TDs in 14 games, but his passing numbers are pedestrian, especially given his weapons and offensive line. You never know, the Eagles could right the ship yet, but this doesn’t look like a squad that will do much damage in the playoffs and could easily lose on the road in the first round to a team like the Saints.
I was looking at the standings and was shocked to see that the Eagles were only +18 point differential. They seem so much better than that, and truly invincible in short yardage situations. I also couldn't believe they decided to give Patricia defensive play-calling responsibilities. This dude has to have Epstein's flight log. There is no other explanation for why he is always employed, coordinating abysmal offenses one year, defenses the next.
