I snap-called the Broncos -5.5 for Circa, and it was never in doubt. I just needed two pick sixes, including one in the final minutes and then a third interception in the end zone when the Browns were moving in for the backdoor. I did say Jameis Winston would make those mistakes, I just didn’t expect him also to have 497 passing yards and four TDs against the Broncos defense.
I also had Jerry Jeudy going in the dynasty league and the Broncos kicker everywhere, so the game went pretty well for me. I had Winston on the bench in one league (the McCaffrey team, which was unfortunate because it would have run my winning streak to three.)
Jaleel McLaughlin is the Broncos starting back? He also got a goal-line carry, but was stuffed, before Javonte Williams (four carries, one yard) scored.
Courtland Sutton is a top-10 WR now, in part because he’s good, but also just due to attrition. Marvin Mims got the 93-yard TD catch, and you can tell Sean Payton wants to attack deep when he can.
Bo Nix was looking deep a lot. He threw one pick that was basically a punt, albeit on first down, but you want your QB willing to put the ball up. The Broncos could use one more playmaker on offense though.
Winston could set the NFL single-game yardage record at this rate. He slings the ball everywhere without conscience and actually throws a nice, catchable pass. It’s amazing how much pass-catching talent Cleveland had on its roster this year with Cedric Tillman, Jeudy, Elijah Moore, Amari Cooper and David Njoku. Shows how beyond cooked Deshaun Watson was.
Jeudy’s been a bust, but it makes you wonder what might have been had he been paired with even a competent QB all these years. He’s still young though and has not lost any of his speed. Moore too has been stuck in QB purgatory. The game is just so much more enjoyable when players like that are liberated.
Nick Chubb broke a couple tackles and caught a TD pass, but he still looks a little sluggish. We might not see the real Chubb again until next year, if ever.
