Monday Night Observations
0-0
I didn’t have much going in this game, only the Eagles defense, so I was rooting for a 0-0 tie in overtime. Both defenses looked good, the Eagles especially. They seem to know how to win games ugly if they need to, almost seem to enjoy it.
Jordan Love didn’t make mistakes, and he’s hard to sack, but that was a lot of attempts for 176 yards. Similar to Caleb Williams, he’s one I have trouble evaluating.
Josh Jacobs got a massive workload and of course delivered a TD. He always delivers something, no matter how ugly the game is.
Romeo Doubs got hurt, and so Love just spread the ball around to everyone. I want to believe in Christian Watson and eventually Jayden Reed, but I can’t.
Brandon McManus needs to make that last-second FG attempt more credible. FFS that was ugly.
Jalen Hurts lost a fumble, but had no picks, no sacks and ran for 27 yards. He’s maybe the best caretaker QB in NFL history.
Saquon Barkley had another 22 carries and three targets, but hasn’t gotten loose very often. Nice spin move on his 41-yard catch and run though.
Devonta Smith is the WR1, AJ Brown is like Christian Watson — capable of an occasional big play.
WTF was Nick Siriani thinking, going for it on 4th-and-6 from the Packers 35, up three with 33 seconds left? Just punt it, worst case into the end zone. Fifteen yards of field position doesn’t sound like much, but it’s a ton with 27 seconds and no timeouts! They never should have allowed them even to attempt a FG.
