I guess the second Monday night game was played later than usual because the edited version wasn’t available at 8 am Portugal time, so I didn’t watch it at all. The Seahawks are ugly, and the Texans are the ugliest of all, so I imagined it would be a terrible game, and by all accounts it was.
I lost a matchup by 29 after starting Jared Goff over Bo Nix, and it would have been the difference. Goff was under pressure a lot and didn’t play especially well. Of course, the Lions were in control all game, so he didn’t need to do much. I’d rather have seen this game if Tampa had all its players healthy, but they didn’t.
Alan Seslowsky and I did an in-season re-draft segment a few weeks ago, and I made Jahmyr Gibbs my 1.1. He’s the best back in the NFL right now, and David Montgomery is closer to Tyler Allgeier (on a better team) than Mark Ingram of peak Alvin Kamara/Mark Ingram.
Amon Ra St. Brown is a machine. He produces every week.
There’s just no opportunity for Jameson Williams in this offense, and only sporadic opportunity for Sam LaPorta. The Lions are becoming a narrower tree by the week.
Baker Mayfield was under pressure, but he also sailed a lot of makeable throws. He didn’t play especially well.
RIP Mike Evans’ 1,000-yard streak. It was a helluva run.
The Bucs really miss Bucky Irving — he’s a much better back than the RaGigaChaad.
I started Cade Otton in a league, and that worked out okay. He’s their No. 2 pass catcher now after Emeka Egbuka who didn’t look 100 percent healthy to me.
Tez Johnson made an insane catch and run on his TD, hurdling one guy and spinning away from another.
It’s amazing JSN put up the line he did against that defense. The Texans shut down the pass and throttle the game flow with terrible offense.
A lot of “sharps” were on Kenny Walker, and I even drafted him in the fifth in one league, but he’s like Fred Taylor on the Jaguars when Maurice Jones-Drew was there — only gets the valueless early-down, between the 20s carries.
Zach Charbonnet is no MJD, but he is the goal line back.
Hilarious that anyone who started Cooper Kupp got dinged for a pick. (I think that was me in one league.)
Woody Marks scored on a TD reception, but apparently had no room to run. Still, Nick Chubb is probably on his last legs after a great career.
I faded the entire Texans passing game this year after investing heavily last year. Between the line and the coach, it was brutal.
Nico Collins got concussed. He’s been one of the big early-round busts so far, roughly on par with Brian Thomas.
