Monday Night Observations
Whatever
I watched this game, hoping for no one to score any points so my last NFFC team hanging by a thread might sneak in, and it was close actually, but not close enough. I knew it was an impossible long shot, but I had to root for something. My team missed by six points in the end.
Jalen Hurts had four picks and a lost fumble. One of the picks and the fumble were on the same play, in other words, he’s a Real Man. Maybe the negative scoring was karmic payback for all the cheap 1-yard TDs he’s had over the last few years.
Saquon Barkley finally got loose for 122 yards and a long TD. The Eagles never throw to him though, so he’s basically present-day Derrick Henry at this point.
AJ Brown had 100 yards and was just short of catching a long TD that was ever so slightly overthrown. Brown had 13 targets, Dallas Goedert 10 and DeVonta Smith eight.
Justin Herbert took seven sacks, threw for just 139 yards, had two fumbles, one lost and one interception. Still he was playing with a surgically repaired broken hand, ran for 66 yards and made some clutch throws under pressure.
Omarion Hampton looked all the way back from his broken ankle, though he had a 50/50 split with Kimani Vidal who took a short throw for 60 yards and a TD. Both backs are good, both will see work, though maybe Hampton will be the 60/40 favorite.
Keenan Allen led the wide receivers with one catch for 22 yards. It was basically another zero for Mr. Zero, Quentin Johnston, and the Great White Hope, covered on some plays by the Rare White Corner, caught only one of five targets for 12 yards. The Chargers can’t pass protect to save their lives, and this makes it hard to get the ball down the field.
One player had a great game, and that was Cameron Kicker who made all five field goal attempts with a long of 54, the game-winner in overtime.

Damn man..hate to hear you missed out by 6 points. I was pulling for you to finish 2nd overall!
