Here are a few early players I’m avoiding at market price, ones I’m not even considering when they typically go off the board. Disclaimer: at least one of these players will do well.
Here’s the current ADP chart I’m using (8/13-8/17):
1.2 Christian McCaffrey (2.6) — He’s a great player, but at 5-11, 205, he lacks the BMI for the workload the Panthers want to give him. Were he used in the Austin Ekeler role, he’d be better off. I see a lot of the “sharps” targeting him because he’s healthy now, he’s easily the 1.1 if healthy and injuries are hard to predict, but there’s a reason there aren’t many backs under 210 (unless they’re midgets) getting big workloads.
1.11 Davante Adams (10.77) — Derek Carr spreads the ball around, Darren Waller and Hunter Renfrow exist, and Adams is switching quarterbacks and systems. It’s not just the downgrade from a quarterback that knows and targets him so much, it’s also that Carr, even if he did force-feed Adams, is not Aaron Rodgers. I see no difference between Adams and a healthy Michael Thomas who goes 5.10.
