Settling Up
I put all my bets, leagues and investments during the preseason in one place, and now that the year is over, I can finally tally my total net winnings on the year. (If I owe any of you money about which I’d forgotten, please remind me, and I’ll subtract it from the tally. More importantly, if any of you owe *me* money I’ve forgotten, let me know about that too.)
Here are the results:
I made a modest profit — $1,569.50, but if you count the NFFC freerolls for which I bartered, including the $150 postseason contest, it gets knocked down to $369.50. But if you don’t count the administrative costs for the Circa contests, it’s back up to $927.50.
All things considered, it was a good year. My style is to make a lot of small and medium long shot bets, so I’m willing to take a small loss most of the time for a chance to hit it big. All the better then when it’s a small profit.
You’ll also notice I’m not really a degenerate — I didn’t make that many bets, and most of them were modest. Kind of disappointing from the guy running the “Real Man Sports” substack, but as I say in the disclaimer posing as a subscription pitch:
Random sports content posted irregularly on which you should definitely not spend your money. Unless you're a real man, in which case you should.
The Real Man is all of you.
