Some players just strike you as obvious targets as you draft. While every player’s ADP is the sum total of the market’s opinions about him, i.e., no matter how much you like or dislike him relative to his price, other people necessarily see it differently, it’s often obvious you want some players on your team instead of others.
Below I’ll post the present (August 2) ADP board and mention the guys I find obvious (right now) at their prices.
Round 1: Bijan Robinson, CeeDee Lamb, AJ Brown — Robinson is that all-purpose, top-prospect back slated for a huge load in a top-notch running system. It’s obvious to me you want him on your roster. Lamb is a durable and unquestioned No. 1 in a pass-heavy system with a good-enough QB. He’s also right in his prime. Brown is a physical freak, a per-play and red-zone monster in his late prime in a top offense. There are no McCaffrey/Ekeler/Kelce age issues, Chase with his injured QB, Jefferson with his 1.1 price tag in 3RR, Hill with his concussion-prone QB. I have no problem with Diggs or ARSB either, but Robinson, Lamb and Brown are my targets in Rd 1.
Round 2: Saquon Barkley, Garrett Wilson — Wilson produced as a rookie in a terrible offense with abominable QB play. In Year 2 with Aaron Rodgers, it’s obvious. Barkley is completely healthy and produced on a terrible offense with no vertical threat. This year, the line is better, Daniel Jones is sharper and knows the system better, Darren Waller is in the fold, and Barkley’s playing on a one-year deal. I’m fine with Nick Chubb (there’s upside if he catches passes), and I was fine with Jonathan Taylor before the bad blood cropped up between him and the Colts.
