Thursday Night Observations
What you'd expect
I had Drake Maye and Breece Hall going in a couple places, no TreVeyon Henderson, so this wasn’t a great result, but what can you expect? It’s the Jets on Thursday night. I did have a Stefon Diggs Primetime share, and I took the Pats -11.5 in my home picking pool so it could have been worse.
I benched Justin Fields for Davis Mills in my QB-flex — the league docks you one point per sack, but Fields played pretty well, didn’t make too many mistakes other than the lost fumble. Tough going without Garrett Wilson though.
Hall looked good, but with Fields running 11 times and drives hard to sustain, there’s not much he could do. There were one or two plays where Hall was open for a checkdown, but Fields ignored him and had to throw it away or took off.
John Metchie made an appearance with three targets and a TD, but new acquisition Adonai Mitchell had only one catch on six and dropped a well thrown deep ball. He’s officially a Jet.
Henderson looked good on the goal-line TD, surging forward over multiple tacklers. Overall he had 19 carries, five catches, three TDs — bell cow workload, but I’d still expect him to split carries when Rhamondre Stevenson comes back.
Diggs was everywhere, catching nine of 11 targets for 105 yards. Drake Maye had spread it around a lot in recent weeks, but maybe Diggs is finally 100 percent back from last year’s knee injury.
Maye looked sharp as usual, though he ceded two rushing TDs to Henderson and didn’t scramble much.
