I didn’t use the Redskins in Circa Millions, but I did switch from the Packers to them at the 11th hour, right before I went to bed. Why did I do this? I don’t know, I guess I thought I’d go with the ugly team that struggled for three quarters against the Giants rather than the dominant one that crushed the Lions. The sharp play! Moreover, I swapped in Jordan Love for Michael Penix in one league at the 11th hour (fine), but decided I’d pair him with Matthew Golden AND Jayden Reed (over RJ Harvey.) Reed gets hurt on a TD catch in the first quarter, the TD is called back for holding, and I get a zero. Golden gets 1.5, so now that team is pretty much drawing dead for the week. If you’re gonna suffer a broken collarbone, have the decency to do so in the fourth quarter, FFS! To his credit Reed held onto the TD because he knew he had done wrong.
The Packers defense is really good. First the Lions and now the Redskins, two of the better offenses in the league. And much of the meager scoring done against them was in garbage time. The Micah Parsons effect is real.
Jordan Love looked smooth and relaxed. I have no Tucker Kraft even though in my Primetime he fell to the 11th round, but I foolishly took Drake Maye instead of waiting longer on QB. The lesson is always to adapt to the draft and scrap your plan. Kraft is probably a top-five TE.
Love spreads the ball around to his receivers so erratically you can’t use any of them. Reed is probably out for the year, and Golden is not integrated into the offense, though they got him two carries. It’s painful to see targets for Dontayvion Wicks and Romeo Doubs. Maybe Golden emerges, but you can’t use him for the foreseeable future.
Josh Jacobs runs hard and is good at leaning forward for extra yards. He didn’t see a target though.
Daniels had a bad night, but salvaged it somewhat in garbage time. No one was open, but Deebo Samuel did some run-after-the-catch to get a TD. Zach Ertz and Terry McLaurin saw enough targets, and Ertz scored a TD, but it was all short stuff.
Austin Ekeler might have suffered a torn Achilles, in which case Jacory Croskey-Merritt would start, and probably Jeremy McNichols would be worth a pickup. I lean McNichols over Chris Rodriguez due to pass-catching skills, but honestly I haven’t looked into it.
I have it on good authority the Redskins kicker is Gay.
Post-script: I neglected to hit save after changing the pick to the Redskins, so it turns out I had the Packers all along! God is great!
Gay and mcmANUS both had LONG misses.
