I faded the Bills in Survivor yesterday, just had an odd vibe about that game, that the Dolphins might show up, play desperate, the Bills might get a little lax, and I wasn’t entirely wrong. The Dolphins covered, and with four minutes left, they were down seven and driving. I was hoping they scored with no time on the clock and went for two, but Tua threw the soul-crushing pick, and that was that. And the only reason the Bills were up seven was on a roughing the kicker penalty that gave the Bills a first down to extend their drive.
But that’s the flip side of Survivor — yes, my vibe was correct that the Dolphins would show up, and the Bills might get a little careless, but even so the Bills won by 10. You want to take the teams that are so good compared to those they’re playing it doesn’t matter.
Tua moved well, even scrambled a bit, but there was nothing down the field, all short throws. I thought he played well before the pick.
De’Von Achane had a modest game by his standards, but still put up 16.1 PPR points. As long as he’s healthy, he’s a machine.
Ollie Gordon ran well, breaking tackles against a good defense, even scored a TD. He looks like a player.
Tyreek Hill bailed out Tua on a couple third-and-longs and caught a TD. But even with 10 targets, he still had only 49 yards. He needs the deep stuff, and I don’t know whether Tua can still do it.
Jaylen Waddle was invisible for most of the first half, but showed up and caught a TD. As with Hill, it’s hard to do much with only short stuff.
The Bills just make it look so easy on offense. The Dolphins had to fight for every first down, while Buffalo just waltzed up and down the field with ease.
Josh Allen had a modest game by his standards, but still threw three TDs.
James Cook, who I faded, is the No. 1 RB so far, and you can see why. Massive holes to run through, goal line work. He’s still not used heavily in the passing game, though.
Dalton Kincaid had a breakout game of sorts. It was only six targets, but a few in or near the end zone, and he almost scored a second TD. This game made me feel like I can start him going forward.
Keon Coleman was the biggest downgrade in this game. Erratic usage, Allen spreading the ball around to everyone, Kincaid getting red zone looks. I don’t see how you can trust any of the receivers now. Khalil Shakir had a good game, but only four targets.
Matt Prater was a hero against the Ravens, but that missed FG was about as bad a shank as I’ve seen.
